Top tourist attractions in Canada

Sometimes we forget about our northern neighbor. But that doesn't mean we should. This North American country contains towering cities and surreal landscapes, from the larger-than-life waterfalls of Niagara to the snowcapped peaks of the Canadian Rockies. Many Canadian cities also put their rich cultural heritage on display for visitors.

We polled Sun Media readers across the country, asking them to chose the top tourist attractions in each Canadian province and territory. After the results of provincial voting were revealed, we asked our readers to vote on the provincial winners to find out the number one tourist attraction across the country.

We can now reveal the top tourist attraction in Canada

  1.     Niagara Falls was chosen by     Sun Media readers as both the top tourist attraction in Ontario and     the best overall tourist attraction in Canada
  2. Banff National Park is the     second best attraction in Canada, according to 24.36% of Sun Media     readers who voted in our poll. It was named the best attraction in     Alberta

  3. The Rocky Mountains were     chosen as the top tourist attraction in British Columbia by 51.8% of     voters and finished third in the race to name Canada's top overall     attraction
  4. Poar bear watching in     Churchill received 1.75% of reader votes in the race to name     Canada's best attraction.
    5. The Klondike National Historic     Site was voted as the top attraction in the Yukon by 44.29%

South Africa Tourist Attractions

South Africa is one of the most diverse and enchanting countries in the world. Exotic combinations of landscapes, people, history and culture offer the traveller a unique and inspiring experience. South Africa is a heady mix of third and first world cultures - along with the best and least crowded beaches in the world.

The Eastern Cape is an interesting place to visit. Some of the country's most powerful political figures, like Steve Biko and Nelson Mandela, were born here and the capital city,Port Elizabeth, was a crucial center of the anti-apartheid movement.

As a destination the Sunshine Coast has had to do little to attract visitors. Its obviously glorious weather, the seaside-resorts of Kenton-on-Sea and Port Alfred - considered the heart of this stretch of coastline - St Francis BayCape St FrancisJeffreys Bay and their access to warm waters, water sports, eco-walks, friendly locals, rock pools and nature reserves, makes its attraction obvious.

Add to this the inland malaria-free ‘Big Five’ access on local game farms, and easy access to the Great Fish River, the Wild Coast and the Addo Elephant Park, and it is easy to understand why so many Capetonians head this way during their rather wet winters, and the rest of the country, as well as visitors to the Eastern Cape, make this their playground.
