Sorry for not writing back quickly. I was very busy with my project on festivals. Now that I’m free, I can tell you about Kupalle.

We celebrate Kupalle (or Kupala Night) in July. It is not anational holiday when people don’t go to work and stay at home to celebrate. It is atraditional festival which saw its beginnings many centuries ago.

To celebrate Kupalle, young people jump overbonfires and look for a magic fern flower in thickforests . Kupalle is a verycolourful festival. People wear bright traditional costumes and beautiful flower wreaths on their heads. People sing Belarusian songs and dance around the bonfire.

Fire is one of the symbols of the festival, so people have burning candles in their homes.
