CALLER: Yes please. Well, I hope you can.

LAUREN: What seems to be the problem ?

CALLER: I don't seem to be able to print out the document I'm working on.

LAUREN : Your printer won't work?

CALLER: No .

LAUREN : Are you sure switched it on?

CALLER: Of course I'm sure.

LAUREN : I'm sorry, but you know what people are like. Sometimes some people think they've switched it on but they haven't.

CALLER: OK. OK.

LAUREN: So when you click on the printer icon, what happens ?

CALLER: Well, nothing happens.

LAUREN : No thing at all?

CALLER: Well, it just says 'printer can not be found' all the time, but that's ridiculous.

LAUREN: OK, have you looked at the printer folder?

CALLER: Yes, and it says 'preparing to print' and then I get that 'printer can not be found' message again.

LAUREN: I see.

CALLER: It's driving me crazy . I've got to finish printing off an essay - or my tutor will kill me.

LAUREN : What about going to the control panel and checking you've selected the right printer. Have you done that?

CALLER: Yes, yes of course .

LAUREN : Well then, I can't tell what the pro blem is from here, really.

CALLER: Please don't go away. You can't just leave me alone. You've got to help me.

LAUREN : All right. I tell you what. The best thing to do is to switch off everything and start all over again.

CALLER: OK, but will you stay on the line while I do that?

LAUREN: All right , if you hurry.

CALLER: Right, I've switched off the computer, and now I'm going to switch off the printer, and ... umm oh ... urnrn .. . oh dear. The printer you see it wasn't .. . oh dear, I think I've been a bit stupid.

LAUREN : Sorry?

CALLER: Listen, you've been very helpful. Honestly. Thanks and everything. Good bye.
